Skiing instructor- Off to the adventure

Well, where should I start? Four weeks ago I got on the plane again. After the odyssey with three suitcases and a number of transport changes, the drive to Kaprun, a police stop, an alcohol test, subsequent driver change and training, we arrived back at the hotel on December 11th, 2017.

The 11 days with 140 ski instructor candidates were amazing. We learned so much, overheard a lot, and of course compensated for a lot with après-ski lol. So that at the end of the day we left the house with the license as ski instructors. Wuhu. Back at the club, the fun continued or actually really started on the next day. I was assigned my first five adults and supposed to take them to the hotel's ski area. Admittedly, it was of course rather suboptimal that I had never skied the slopes before in order to know my way around. Then there was the fog, so you should have known the slopes by heart. I really had absolutely no clue where we were and how we would get back to the valley. Given that I'm going to say hello to the lift staff, I had the way back quickly explained to me. No problem. I can improvise. No injuries, no accidents and satisfied guests. It works.

On Sunday I got my first group of children. Absolute change. From technical tips such as "Think about the alpine driving behaviour" to: PIZZAAAA, zicke zacke zicke zack hay hay hay!!! ", the tide really turned 180 degrees. Surely, it's a lot of fun, but you also have an even greater responsibility. Luckily, many children are not afraid, but you always have to keep an eye on the pack so that you don't even lose one of them. And of course my inexhaustible patience is required again. Also for the fifth time, I am happy to put the children at the pommel lift again, during the one and the same lift ride, of course. Oh yes. You gotta love it. No, honestly, I therefore prefer the groups that are able to brake without racing over my skis and trigger the domino effect of the children by rushing into the crowd uncontrollably. Oh yes, the life of a ski instructor. That won't get boring either. I have a lot of fun working as a ski instructor and, above all, I feel right at home in Austria!
